Harper still in Wolves talks

12 April 2012

Reading manager Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that midfielder James Harper is still in talks with Wolves after a move fell through last week.

Wolves have already plundered the Royals this summer for striker Kevin Doyle and could yet sign Harper, who is the club's longest-serving player.

Rodgers said: "James spoke to Wolves. He's now back here. Things have gone a little quiet but we will have to wait and see.

He added: "A fee was agreed and we gave him permission to speak to them. Obviously, Mick McCarthy was at our game the other night and I think it's getting towards that period in the transfer window when there is much more speculation.

"At the moment he is a Reading player. He's working well and his movement was good the other night, so it certainly wasn't fitness which stopped the move."
