Gunners confident of new Wenger deal

12 April 2012

Arsenal managing director Keith Edelman believes it is only a matter of time before Arsene Wenger signs a new contract at the Emirates.

Wenger's current contract expires at the end of the season and the delay over putting pen to paper on a new deal has followed vice-chairman David Dein's departure from the club last April.

Edelman told BBC Radio Five Live's Sportsweek: "We have always been very confident that Arsene will re-sign another contract. We leave these matters very much to Arsene. He will decide when he wants to sign and when he's ready."

He added: "It will be a renewal of his contract, it is not a 20-year deal, but we go stage by stage, have a discussion and then move to the next stage."
