Gorkss set for Blackpool backlash

Target: Latvian Kaspars Gorkss is expecting a hot reception when QPR take on Blackpool

Queens Park Rangers defender Kaspars Gorkss is bracing himself for a barrage of abuse when he travels to face former club Blackpool tonight.

The Latvian enjoyed a successful 18-month spell with the Tangerines before joining Rangers last summer, in a deal that didn't go down well with Blackpool's supporters.

Gorkss said: "I'd like to think the majority of the Blackpool fans will remember how well I did for them. Having said that, I know how football works and of course I am expecting a mixed reaction.

"But it will still be great to go back and see the lads though, and hopefully I can play my part in another QPR victory."

Watford boss Brendan Rodgers has urged his side to take their cup form into tonight's Championship encounter with Burnley.

FA Cup success over Crystal Palace at the weekend has set the Hornets up for a quarter-final clash with Chelsea but, with the club hovering on the edge of the relegation zone, it is their League form that is now crucial.

"Every game is important to us and we know we have to improve our league form," said Rodgers, whose side have failed to pick up a win in their last five attempts.

"I am never going to be a manager who shouts and screams at his players in public but I've made my point to the team about the way we are at this time.

"We need to improve in key areas of the pitch - where games are won and lost."
