Spurs' six-appeal has Michael Dawson dreaming of first England cap

Michael Dawson is hoping he can impress Fabio Capello and earn a place in the team

Michael Dawson believes his chances of making the final England squad for the World Cup have been enhanced by having so many Tottenham players around him in Austria this week.

The 26-year-old is one of six of this season's successful Spurs team training in the Alps.

"It's the first squad I've been in under Mr Capello, and obviously it'll make it easier being around a few lads I already know," he told the FA.com.

"It makes you a lot more relaxed knowing that when you come away there'll be a few familiar faces, but all the lads have been fantastic."

Dawson had previously been capped 12 times for the Under-21 team and has been involved with the senior team before, but is now eyeing up his first full cap against Mexico at Wembley on Monday.

"It would be a dream come true to play for your country," he added. "I've been in a few squads but not got on the pitch and earned a cap yet, but it's always been a dream of mine to play for England."
