Fifa World Cup 2018 Group A guide: Russia, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Uruguay - final standings, table, results, teams, squad, permutations, betting tips/odds

Standard Sport29 June 2018

Luis Suarez scored his second goal of the tournament to help Uruguay seal top spot ahead of Russia as Group A concluded.

The hosts went behind early on as the striker powered home an impressive free kick before Denis Cheryshev deflected Diego Lazalt's shot into his own net. To make matters worse, Igor Smolnikov was shown two yellow cards in the first half. The second half was a tamer affair until Edinson Cavani tapped home a third as the game ticked into stoppage time.

In the dead rubber, Mohammed Salah gave Egypt something to cheer after a disappointing campaign with a smart lob to open the scoring. Shortly after Essam El Hadary celebrated becoming the oldest ever World Cup player, on his debut, by saving Abdallah El Said's penalty. Unfortunately, Salman Al Farah made no mistake from 12 yards. It was to be heartbreak for the Pharaohs at full-time after Salem Al Dawsari scored with second remaining to jump into third place.

Coach: Oscar Tabarez

Star player: Luis Suarez

World Cup best: Winners 1930, 1950
