Why wouldn't Eden Hazard sign for Real Madrid? Ivan Campo talks up move for Chelsea star

1/24

Former Real Madrid star Ivan Campo believes Eden Hazard has the quality to succeed at the Santiago Bernabeu despite the Chelsea forward suffering a season to forget with the Blues.

Hazard won last year's PFA Player of the Year award after helping fire Chelsea to the Premier League crown, but then failed to follow up such performances in the 2015/16 campaign as injury and poor form blighted his season.

After fully recovering from injury, however, the Belgian managed to recover his form towards the end of the season, and ended the campaign with four goals in five league games.

Despite his woes at Stamford Bridge last term, Hazard was heavily linked with a summer move to Real Madrid, and indeed also Paris Saint-Germain, but appeared to suggest he will remain at Stamford Bridge for next season.

But Campo - who won the Champions League twice at Real between 1998 and 2003 - believes Hazard is the type of player that Los Blancos should sign because he is one of the best footballers in the world.

Speaking exclusively to 888sport, the 42-year-old said: "Hazard is one of the best players in the world.

"Last season he was easily the best player in the Premier League but this year he hasn’t had much luck.

"However, he has so much quality, so why wouldn’t he sign for Madrid."
