West Ham's Michail Antonio leaves London Stadium pitch in tears after latest injury setback

1/21

Michail Antonio left the pitch in tears when coming off injured in the early stages of West Ham’s Premier League clash with Southampton.

The forward, reinstated in an attacking role against the Saints, started brightly on the right-hand side, before tweaking his hamstring in while attempting a shot.

After lengthy treatment on the pitch, Antonio limped off in tears at London Stadium for further assessment.

It looks to be another serious injury the 28-year-old has suffered this season after missing 16 games over two spells between October and February.

Antonio was originally ruled out in the Autumn with damaged ribs before calf problems ruled him out of the entire festive schedule and January.

Edmilson Fernandes replaced Antonio and West Ham quickly scored twice in Saturday's crucial relegation six-pointer.

Joao Mario fired home his first for the club before Marko Arnautovic doubled their advantage before adding a third in first-half stoppage time for a commanding half-time lead.
