West Ham vice-chairman Karren Brady admits that, while the club have ‘no real plans’ to sign players in the January transfer window they could react if something ‘interesting’ comes up.

Slaven Bilic’s squad has been struck hard by injuries to Winston Reid, Victor Moses, Manuel Lanzini, Diafra Sakho, Dimitri Payet and Enner Valencia in recent weeks, but the clubs has so far played down talk of a flurry of business when the market opens next month.

Writing in his Evening Standard column last week, Bilic insisted that club won’t make ‘panic signings’, while David Gold insisted that the Hammers already ‘have a £35m striker in Andy Carroll’ when asked if they needed striking reinforcements.

In an interview with BT Sport, vice-chairman Karren Brady followed suit, albeit without ruling a move should the right player be available.

Speaking to BT Sport’s Football tonight show, Brady admitted: “January’s never a great time for any club to buy players, because most of the good players are not really available for sale.”

“So we’re not planning to do anything …but if something comes up that’s quite interesting and makes sense for the manager then we might consider it, but no real plans.”
