David Moyes has confirmed that West Ham have lodged a number of transfer offers for players in his bid to strengthen the squad.
However, the Hammers boss warned that the club are operating in a difficult and slow market hampered by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Moyes is keen to add a central defender and striker this month and talks have been held with a number of targets.
Fiorentina's Nikola Milenkovic remains an option, though talks continue to see if a move for Chelsea's Kurt Zouma is a possibility.
West Ham are in need of added depth ahead of a season in which they will face the added burden of a Europa League campaign.
The only addition to the squad so far this summer has been goalkeeper Alphonse Areola on loan from Paris Saint-Germain.
Some fans have vented frustration towards the board over a lack of investment, though Moyes is confident the majority are relishing seeing his successful side back in action.
"We are trying to add to the squad if we can," said Moyes. "We’ve had and we’ve got some offers in for people but not everything is coming to fruition. We’ll do our best to add to the squad before the close of the window.
"It has been a difficult window because the market in general is very quiet. There has been money spent at the top end but it has been quiet overall. We hope to add to it.
"I don’t think West Ham supporters are frustrated, I think they’re realising how good the team has been. So many will be coming back to see new players who they’ve not seen for the last 18 months who have been doing really well."
