West Ham fans will display a mosaic before this month’s home game against Tottenham to mark the 20th anniversary of the passing of Bobby Moore OBE.

The special tribute at Upton Park on February 25 is part of a series of events to commemorate the life of the West Ham and England legend.

Moore passed away at the age of 51 in 1993 following a battle with bowel cancer. Supporters sitting in the Bobby Moore Stand will be invited to take part in displaying a special mosaic depicting Moore’s famous No6 shirt.

Prior to kick-off, a minute’s applause will be held in memory of the defender, who made 544 appearances for West Ham between 1958 and 1974.

A host of Moore’s contemporaries have been invited to attend as special guests of the club, including Martin Peters, Sir Geoff Hurst and Sir Trevor Brooking.

Supporters can also attend a wreath-laying ceremony at the Heroes statue on the corner of Green Street and Barking Road at 11am on February 24.

The game against Tottenham is one of this season’s designated Bobby Moore Fund matches.

The West Ham players will also warm-up in Bobby Moore Fund T-shirts, while a special 100-page programme is being produced for the game, priced at £4, and 50 pence from each sale will go to the Bobby Moore Fund for Cancer Research UK.
