Vincent Kompany has sounded a note of caution urging Manchester City not to get carried away following a convincing victory over Manchester United on Tuesday night.

The Belgian international insisted the title is not won yet after City recorded their third successive win at Old Trafford to narrow the gap to Premier League-leaders Chelsea.

Jose Mourinho's side are now only three points clear of City, but Manuel Pellegrini's charges have the luxury of two games in hand over their closest league rivals.

Kompany, though, was keen to stress the importance of staying grounded as the season reaches its climax.

"It's just one little step [beating United]," Kompany told Sky Sports.

"The other teams are still very good.

"I mean, games have to be played. As long as we don't have the points, I don't consider ourselves there yet.

"With the game against Arsenal, obviously it's good in a way because you don't have to make a big effort to get the lads focused again."
