Watford have signed Newcastle full back Daryl Janmaat on a four-year contract.

The 27-year-old was a key member of the Magpies' defence last term but has moved to Vicarage Road to continue his Premier League career.

Janmaat joined Newcastle from Feyenoord in July 2014 after an impressive World Cup campaign with the Netherlands and has become Walter Mazzarri's eighth signing of the summer.

A statement on Newcastle's official website read: "The club wishes to place on record its thanks to Daryl for his efforts during his time at Newcastle.

"He leaves with our best wishes for his future at Watford."

Janmaat is expected to go straight into the Hornets' squad for Saturday's Premier League clash against Arsenal.

The Dutchman could be one of three new signings to make their debuts against Arsene Wenger's side with Roberto Pereyra and Younes Kaboul also vying for a place in Watford's starting line up.
