Victor Wanyama has ruled out leaving Tottenham despite making just eight Premier League starts this season.

Wanyama, 26, spent the majority of the first half of the 2017-18 campaign on the sidelines with a knee problem he suffered during pre-season.

The Kenya international admitted that being forced to watch Spurs play Real Madrid in the Champions League at Wembley from the sidelines was the "lowest point" of his career, though Wanyama returned in January and played a role in securing a top-four finish for the club.

Despite his injury troubles, Wanyama has been linked with a move away from north London in recent months, with the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United reportedly interested in his signature.

However, the midfielder told Goal.com: "I still have a contract with Spurs and that is what I want to see through.

“I did not have a good season with the team because of injury and my aim now is to work hard during this break and return for next season even stronger and help them perform even better."

Wanyama had said of being out of action in January this year: "Being injured as a footballer teaches you many things about yourself but nothing more so than if you have your health then you have your wealth.

"Money and all the trappings of being a footballer mean nothing unless you have your health and fitness.

"This has been a dark time for me. When Tottenham played Real Madrid at Wembley and I had to watch... I wanted to play so badly, it was probably the lowest point of my career."
