Victor Moses has urged his Chelsea team-mates to use the confidence boost from their thrashing of Brighton to knock Arsenal out of the EFL Cup on Wednesday.

Antonio Conte's side followed up five straight draws in all competitions by beating Chris Hughton's side 4-0 at the Amex Stadium on Saturday.

A result achieved without six first-team players as Thibaut Courtois, Cesc Fabregas, Gary Cahill and Danny Drinkwater were all out injured while top scorer Alvaro Morata and winger Pedro were suspended.

Moses, who scored Chelsea's fourth, believes the champions showed their winning mentality and hopes for a similar performance at the Emirates Stadium in midweek.

Speaking exclusively to Standard Sport, Moses said: "It was very important [to beat Brighton] after drawing four games in a row [five including the FA Cup third-round replay against Norwich that Chelsea won on penalties].

"We wanted to come out here with a game plan. We came here with a game-plan and it was important to get the three points. We showed great character from the start until the end, which was really important for us. We now look forward to the game on Wednesday."

When then asked whether Chelsea's big win against Brighton without so many key players available showed their character, Moses replied: "Yeah, definitely.

"Right from the goalkeeper to the striker, I thought we all linked up well and worked hard together. We really enjoyed the game today but the most important thing is the three points because we wanted to go up the table. I'm pleased about it.

"[This win] has definitely picked the team up. Winning 4-0 away was key and important for us.

"But now we must use that confidence to go to the Emirates Stadium and try and win that game on Wednesday."
