Tottenham have confirmed the deadline day signing of Spanish striker Fernando Llorente from Swansea City, who joins for a fee of £14million.

The 32-year-old, who had looked set to join London rivals Chelsea until the final day of the window, scored 15 goals for the Swans last season under three different managers as he helped them to secure their Premier League survival.

Spurs swooped in at the last minute to land the Spain international after the champions believed they were close to an £11m deal for one of Antonio Conte’s top targets earlier in the week.

The former Juventus striker - who comes in as back-up to England international Harry Kane - is one of a number of late Spurs signings in this window, with Paulo Gazzaniga, Davinson Sanchez and Juan Foyth all arriving after the start of the season.

Tottenham fans may have to wait to see an appearance from their new signing as he recovers from a broken arm picked up while on holiday in pre-season.
