Cruise control: Spurs eased to a comfortable victory over Norwich this afternoon

Harry Kane has hailed Tottenham's "very good performance" against Norwich after Mauricio Pochettino's side secured a comfortable 3-0 victory over the Canaries this afternoon.

The newly promoted side started the game well at White Hart Lane, forcing Hugo Lloris into several saves early on, but it was the hosts who took the lead.

Kane was upended by goalkeeper Declan Rudd and dusted himself down to convert from the penalty spot moments later.

The 22-year-old's strike boosted Tottenham's confidence and Kane fired home his second strike of the afternoon with a well-taken finish on the stroke of half time.

Substitute Tom Carroll added a third late on as Spurs strengthened their grip on fourth place and Kane was proud of how he and his teammates bounced back from their previous disappointment on home turf.

"[It was] a very good performance by the team. We had a disappointing result here last time against Newcastle but a solid result this time," he told the BBC.

"We are delighted with the three goals and the win. Norwich are a side fighting for every point so we knew we had to come out in the second half and keep the tempo up. We managed to get the third goal and kill the game off.

"We go again on Monday away from home and need to pick up as many points as we can."

Spurs travel to Watford - who claimed a respectable 2-2 draw with Chelsea today - early next week and have little time to reflect on their victory over Norwich.

But the game will not be forgotten quickly by Carroll, whose long-range effort represented his first goal for Spurs in the top flight.

The 23-year-old was chuffed to finally get off the mark for the north Londoners with a sweetly struck drive from distance but also conceded his celebration needs a little work.

"I'm delighted to get it - first Premier League goal. The celebration wasn't the best but I'm absolutely delighted to get the win," he told the club's official website.
