Tottenham should reward Danny Rose with a "big contract" for his impressive performances this season, according to Brazil legend Roberto Carlos.

Rose joined Spurs from Leeds United in 2007 but initially struggled to establish himself at White Hart Lane.

However, such struggles are firmly in the past as the 26-year-old is now regarded as one of the Premier League's best full backs.

Rose signed a new Spurs deal as recently as September 2016 but Carlos is adamant chairman Daniel Levy should offer the defender renewed terms before a foreign club comes calling.

“[Danny Rose is] a good player," Carlos told Squawka.

"But, from the Tottenham games I’ve seen, Rose is a player that is evolving a lot, developing a lot.

“Eventually he could play in a different country, especially if the president doesn’t give him a big contract because clubs will come and definitely want to buy him.”

Rose has been linked with lucrative moves to Manchester United, Manchester City and Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain in recent months.

Spurs travel to Sunderland tonight and Rose, who was rested for the weekend's FA Cup victory over Wycombe Wanderers, is expected to return to the side at the Stadium of Light.
