Tottenham are the only team capable of catching Chelsea in the Premier League title race, according to former Spurs midfielder Andy Reid.

Antonio Conte's side boast a seven-point lead at the top of the table, despite losing at White Hart Lane earlier this month, and are very much in the driving seat as things stand.

But Spurs are in fine form, having won six consecutive Premier League fixtures to climb to second place.

Mauricio Pochettino's side are nine points better off than they were at this stage last season, reigniting hopes they can push the Blues all the way during the second half of the campaign.

And Reid is adamant Tottenham's current momentum means they are the side most likely to emerge from the chasing pack.

Andy Reid, speaking exclusively to 888sport, said: “Pochettino is doing a fantastic job and if anybody is going to catch Chelsea I would say that would be Tottenham.

"I really hope they can and it’s certainly going to be close.

“I watched the game at the weekend and they were absolutely fantastic: they just brushed West Brom aside and West Brom are playing well right now.

"They played good attacking Tottenham-like football and that’s what the fans like to see.

"Harry Kane is on fire and [Mousa] Dembele and [Christian] Eriksen are playing really well while they look tight at the back.”

Spurs travel to Manchester City this weekend aiming to capitalise on the uncertainty surrounding Pep Guardiola's side.

City dropped out of the top four following last week's defeat to Everton and Reid is adamant Spurs can end their rivals' title hopes with victory on Saturday evening.

"There is no reason the way Tottenham are playing at the minute that they can’t get a great result and beat them. If they do it’s definitely over for City.

"You can take them out of the title race completely,” he added.
