Said Benrahma to West Ham: Transfer edging closer after positive talks with Brentford

West Ham remain in discussions over the signing of Brentford winger Said Benrahma following positive talks on Sunday.

David Moyes is seeking to strengthen his attacking options at London Stadium after allowing Felipe Anderson to join FC Porto on a season-long loan deal earlier this week.

That exit has led the Hammers to step up their interest in £25million-rated Benrahma, who, along with the likes of Ollie Watkins, was one of the standout stars of Brentford's impressive run to the Championship play-off final last term.

Standard Sport understands West Ham are edging closer towards a deal for the Algerian international after talks with Brentford on Sunday, though a deal is still yet to be completed.

Benrahma - who arrived in west London from French club Nice in 2018 - scored 17 goals and laid on 10 assists in 46 Championship appearances last term, helping the Bees all the way to Wembley, where they were defeated in extra-time by rivals Fulham.

This season, the 25-year-old - who was widely expected to follow Watkins out of Brentford this summer, with the latter having joined Aston Villa in a £28m deal - has started just three matches across all competitions under Thomas Frank.

However, he provided a timely reminder of his quality with a brace in the Carabao Cup win over Fulham that included a stunning second goal to wrap up a 3-0 win at the new Brentford Community Stadium.

West Ham signed right-back Vladimir Coufal before the close of the international transfer window earlier this week, having previously swooped to sign the Czech's former Slavia Prague team-mate Tomas Soucek on a permanent basis following a successful loan stint.

Standard Sport understands West Ham are also pursuing a deal for Bournemouth striker Josh King before Friday's 5pm BST domestic deadline.
