Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink today admitted he was naive to get caught up in the Daily Telegraph’s probe into corruption in football but again denied any wrongdoing.

The QPR manager was shown apparently negotiating a fee to travel to Singapore to speak to a bogus Far East company. Hasselbaink is also alleged to have discussed the possibility of signing players from them, which could constitute a conflict of interest.

QPR have launched an investigation but Hasselbaink will fight to clear his name.

“Taking money is not what I stand for,” he told Sky Sports News today. “It is not what I stand for. I’ve never done it. I will never do it just to get a player. I was negotiating to go to Singapore for a speech, that is it. I have been naive.”

Hasselbaink was questioned by QPR yesterday after he was filmed in the undercover sting. He was asked to explain the events to Rangers chief executive Lee Hoos and QPR director of football Les Ferdinand yesterday.

However, the Championship club said this morning their investigation was on hold until the Telegraph gives them an unedited version of the footage and a full transcript of the discussions.

Hasselbaink will be in the dugout when his team face Fulham at Craven Cottage tomorrow.
