Adrian hopes to enjoy an extended run in the first team after impressing in West Ham’s defeat to Manchester City.

David Silva’s 83rd minute strike denied West Ham what would have been a well-deserved point, after they had taken a surprise first-half lead from Angelo Ogbonna’s header.

Adrian, starting because Joe Hart’s loan deal prevented him from appearing against his parent club, was impressive at the back for the Hammers.

The Spaniard pulled off multiple second half saves as he frustrated City’s attack, most notably Leroy Sane, with the German unable to get the better of the Hammers man.

But Adrian insists that he cannot take much pleasure from his personal performance, with his side rooted in the bottom three.

"At the end of the day it is a defeat, we don't get any points, so I cannot be happy, zero,” he told Sky Sports.

“But we troubled them, we defended well and played well on the counter attack, we had great chances to go 2-2 at the end but they are top players.”

"Personally, this is my fifth season at West Ham. I do my best every time I play. I hope I have more chances to play from now. The competition is great, so for the manager the next game we don't know."
