Paul Pogba to Manchester United: Juventus 'in good shape' if midfielder seals world-record transfer - Allegri

Standard Sport23 July 2016

Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri has confirmed that the Italian champions are unsure of whether Paul Pogba will leave for Manchester United this summer.

Jose Mourinho says United's summer transfer spending 'will be done' after signing one more midfielder amid reports of a world-record bid for Pogba.

The Serie A champions have reportedly turned down an offer from United in the region of £100million, while United boss Mourinho says he would not be surprised if the deal fell through.

The Portuguese coach also suggested United have other options lined up if the 23-year-old does not return to Manchester this summer, and agent Mino Raiola - who has confirmed that no deal has yet been struck - says breaking world records in terms of finances is of no concern to him.

Speaking out on Pogba's future, Allegri said on Friday: "Pogba is a Juventus player at the moment but we don't know what is going to happen, but the club will look after that.

"And I can tell you we've got four first-class players in - Mehdi Benatia, Dani Alves, Miralem Pjanic and Marko Pjaca.

"These are four important players to strengthen the squad... so whatever happens with Pogba, we will be in good shape."

Mourinho oversaw his first defeat as United boss in a heavy 4-1 loss to Borussia Dortmund in Friday's pre-season friendly in China, and discussed the club's transfer plans after the game.

"We are completely convinced of our market," he told reporters. "When we are finished we are balanced.

"[Against Dortmund] we had no [Zlatan] Ibrahimovic, [Anthony] Martial, [Marouane] Fellaini, [Morgan] Schneiderlin – lots of them aren’t here yet.

"The market is open until 31 August and sometimes things happen that you aren’t expecting and you must react."
