Park Ji-sung agrees contract extension at Manchester United

11 April 2012

Park Ji-sung has agreed a contract extension that will keep him at Manchester United until 2012.

The agency responsible for negotiating Park's contract, JS Limited, confirmed the news in a statement released in Asia this afternoon.

"Park and Man United agreed on a three-year deal. The contract will expire June 30, 2012. But we can't reveal the salary due to a mutual agreement," said the statement.

It was widely expected the 28-year-old would remain at Old Trafford.

Park joined United from PSV Eindhoven for a modest £2million in 2005, and the South Korean star has proved to be a valuable member of Sir Alex Ferguson's squad.

He was involved in last season's Champions League final - after not even making the squad 12 months previously - and featured in 25 matches during United's successful Premier League campaign.

During the Red Devils' Far East tour this summer, Ferguson confirmed his belief that a deal would be done with Park, whose wages are estimated at around £65,000-a-week.

It is widely anticipated United will confirm the news themselves in the near future.
