Jeffrey Schlupp is convinced that Crystal Palace are “going places” after he completed his move from Leicester on Friday.
The Premier League champion signed a four and a half year at Selhurst Park on Friday, making his debut as an 81st minute substitute in a 3-0 loss to West Ham on Saturday.
Defeat at the London Stadium only served to heighten the pressure on Palace in the relegation battle but the 24-year-old, who made just four league appearances at Leicester this season, sees cause for optimism in a move he termed a “no brainer”.
“I was at Leicester for many years and I think the time was right to move on and take my career onto a different path and I saw this opportunity come along to play for Crystal Palace and it was a no-brainer,” Schlupp told the club website.
“Everyone knows how big the club is and you can see it is going places, it has quality players and a manager in Sam Allardyce who is known for doing well in the Premier League so it was an easy decision for me.”
Schlupp was Sam Allardyce’s first signing since taking over at Selhurst Park last month, though the 62-year-old has made clear he wants to bring in more players, Arsenal right-back Carl Jenkinson being among those on his shortlist.

Allardyce has never been relegated from the top flight and saved Sunderland in impressive style last season. Having also established Bolton as a Premier League force and helped West Ham to climb out of the Championship he has proven himself to be just the sort of manager Schlupp wants to work with.
“Everyone knows what he is about and is a big name in the game,” Schlupp added. “He has done well at a number of Premier League clubs and I look forward to working with him.”
