Jurgen Klopp today announced his arrival to Engish football by describing himself as 'just a normal guy'.

The 48 year-old who won two Bundesliga titles at the helm of Borussia Dortmund was asked about Jose Mourinho's first press conference at Chelsea in 2004 when he labelled himself a 'Special One'.

Klopp replied: "I don't want to describe myself. I'm a totally normal guy, I'm the Normal One."

Klopp succeeds Brendan Rodgers as Liverpool manager, whose sacking was confirmed last Sunday shortly after a 1-1 draw with Everton in the Merseyside derby.

Former Chelsea and Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti was initially touted as a rival candidate but it quickly became clear Klopp was bound for the Kop.

His first interview with the club suggests the Reds have a manager dripping with charisma.

"We are not the best team in the world - who cares? Who wants to be the best team in the world today? We want to be the best team tomorrow or another day," he said.

Klopp was asked about the style of play Liverpool might adopt under him.

"I haven't met my team yet. (My style is) emotion inside, it's speed, it's a transition game. All the things that make football interesting for me I want to see on the pitch.

"But it's not the day for promising a certain style of football. Let's start to work, let's speak next week, let's start normal work."

Klopp appeared to be tiring of the attention from photographers.

"From 11am on it would be nice if we could concentrate on football," he added.
