Michy Batshuayi leaves Chelsea to join Dortmund on loan until end of the season

Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi has joined Borussia Dortmund on loan until the end of the season.

The Belgian was allowed to complete the move to the German giants after Chelsea finalised a transfer for Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud, who will come into Antonio Conte's squad to compete with first-choice forward Alvaro Morata. Arsenal are understood to have paid the £1.3million loan fee required from Chelsea for Batshuayi, as part of their negotiations to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Dortmund.

The striker has only started 10 times in all competitions this season - with the majority of those coming in the FA Cup or the League Cup.

The Belgium international joined Chelsea from Marseille in a £33m deal in the summer of 2016, but struggled to displace Diego Costa from Conte's starting line-up.

Batshuayi did, however, end the 2016-17 campaign in fine form after scoring the goal against West Brom that secured the Premier League title for Chelsea in May.

But the arrival of Morata last summer as Costa's replacement up front meant Batshuayi being unable to break into Conte's starting XI, with the striker having now opted to leave Chelsea for Dortmund on loan.
