Ole Gunnar Solskjaer backs Man Utd for Champions League as Avram Glazer joins in dressing room celebrations

Avram Glazer joined in on Manchester United’s dressing room celebrations after their incredible Champions League win against Paris Saint-Germain.

The club’s co-owner travelled from Florida to attend the match at the Parc des Princes and was caught up in the emotion of a dramatic 3-1 victory after Marcus Rashford’s injury time penalty.

Sir Alex Ferguson and Eric Cantona also got involved as United savoured the historic win.

But Glazer’s presence was notable, with the American businessman becoming enthused by United’s resurgence under Solskjaer in recent months.

The PSG game was fourth he’s attended since Solskjaer took charge in December, having rarely done so in the past.

And he can now look forward to another glamour tie in the quarter-finals, with Solskjaer insisting United could even conquer Europe this season after their historic win in France.

“Of course we fancy ourselves,” said the interim manager. “We can go all the way, but we just have to wait for the draw and then take the game as it comes.

“The dressing room in there was absolutely unbelievable. Just to see the club together, with the owners, ex-managers, ex-players – it was a great atmosphere.”

United became the first club in Champions League history to overturn a 2-0 first leg home defeat curtesy of two first half goals from Romelu Lukaku and Rashford’s late, late spot kick.

Juan Bernat had equalised for PSG after Lukaku’s opener in the second minute – but the French champions endured another humbling collapse in Europe.

Solskjaer had told his players to get in the heads of their opponents, who had famously squandered a 4-0 first leg win against Barcelona two years ago, going on to lose 6-1 at the Nou Camp.

“We always believed that’s the thing,” said Solskjaer. “We set out the plan. It wasn’t about having the ball and outplaying them because if you give them too much space and time, with (Kylian) Mbappe, you saw in the first-half when we missed our defensive shape they threw us straight away.

“The plan was to get the first goal, be in the game with five or 10 minutes to go and we were.

“We’ve had loads of injuries, suspensions, but that was maybe a good thing. We had a fresh team, loads of energy, and we had to defend and be humble enough to work hard and we had a team to do that.”
