Henrikh Mkhitaryan admits the prospect of contesting the League Cup final at Wembley will be a dream come true after the midfielder starred in Manchester United's 4-1 win over West Ham on Wednesday.

The Armenian proved influential in the EFL Cup quarter-final win at Old Trafford after his superb back-heel to Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the second minute of the game resulted in United's opening goal before Mkhitaryan helped the Red Devils re-take the lead shortly after Ashley Fletcher had pulled one back for the Hammers.

The 27-year-old latched onto the ball before cutting it back for an unmarked Anthony Martial, who went on to score in the 48th minute which ensured United ran away with a game they had dominated from start to finish.

Mkhitaryan's showing against West Ham came off the back of a difficult beginning to life at United following his switch from Borussia Dortmund in the summer, but the midfielder admitted after the game he now feels fully settled in England.

When asked how pleased he was with his performance, Mkhitaryan told Sky Sports: "To be honest, I am more pleased that we won and it was a very important game and we are in the semi-final.

"I think we did a good job and we have to keep going. Maybe [playing at Wembley] is a dream but it's not the main goal now. We have to be more focused on the next game and we will see what will happen."

When then asked whether he feels settled at United, a smiling Mkhitaryan replied: "Yes. I do."

Mourinho also addressed Mkhitaryan's stand-out performance on Wednesday, saying he was pleased to see the 27-year-old demonstrate just why United made him on of their four signings in the summer.

"I'm so happy for him because today was against a Premier League team and Miki performed this way," Mourinho, who served a one-game touchline ban on Wednesday, said.

"We are really happy. We know the reason why we bought him."
