Manchester United vs Arsenal: Aaron Ramsey reveals frustration of post-Euro 2016 injury blow

Aaron Ramsey has admitted he found his post-Euro 2016 absence hugely frustrating.

The Arsenal midfielder limped out of his side’s opening game of the season, a 4-3 loss to Liverpool, with the latest in a string of hamstring injuries, from which he did not return until October 29.

Ramsey had enjoyed his best form in several years with Wales over the summer, earning a spot in the Euro 2016 team of the tournament after inspiring his country to the semi-finals in the aftermath of what had been a frustrating season at club level.

“After the Euros I had, I was desperate to get back and carry that on,” Ramsey told Sky Sports ahead of Saturday's Old Trafford clash with Manchester United.

“Then to get an injury in the first game and a few setbacks after that - it's been so frustrating.

“It's one of those things, you can't get too down, you just have to get on with it.

"Luckily the team have been doing well, now we just have to keep that going.”

Since returning from the sidelines in a 4-1 win over Sunderland Ramsey has played three games for club and country, starting in Arsenal's 3-2 away win over Ludogorets Razgrad.

The Welsh midfielder is not guaranteed a similar spot in the first XI at Old Trafford, with Arsene Wenger expected to name Granit Xhaka and Francis Coquelin at the base of midfield.

That may mean Ramsey must compete with the in-form Theo Walcott for a berth on the right flank, a position he has said in the past he would prefer not to play in.
