Liam Delap has been included in Manchester City’s squad for today's game against Leicester City after his goal-scoring debut.

The 17-year-old’s outstanding finish in Thursday’s EFL Cup win against Bournemouth justified Pep Guardiola’s faith in the striker.

He was named on the bench against Wolves on Monday and is a substitute again as City cope with an extensive injury list.

Guardiola said: “He’s 17, a different striker than we have in terms of physicality, but we see in training what a good finisher he is.

“Now we are calm, we still work with him, but we are happy with his performance.

“The situation we have right now, we have 13 players, he’s with us and can be selected. Of course he will stay with us, we’ll see if we need him.

“We cannot forget the way we spoke about Liam, but he’s just 17 and he has a lot to improve. Steps at a time, we have the process.”

Man City XI: Ederson, Walker, Garcia, Ake, Mendy, Rodrigo, Fernandinho, De Bruyne, Mahrez, Sterling, Foden

Subs: Steffen, Zinchenko, Laporte, Torres, Delap, Doyle, Palmer
