Deportivo La Coruna president Tino Fernandez has admitted that the club have found a move for Arsenal forward Lucas Perez all but beyond them.

The 28-year-old arrived at the Emirates for £17 million in August but struggled to establish a regular place in Arsene Wenger's side.

Having been left out of the squad for Arsenal's pre-season tour of Australia and China Lucas is expected to return to Spain in the coming weeks as he targets a spot in the country's World Cup squad.

Sevilla have been among those to express an interest in the striker, as have his former club Deportivo. However Fernandez admitted that "the possibilities are remote" for the club and Lucas to be reunited at the Riazor.

"Lucas is at a great club who made a big financial effort for him, there's a high level there and also the desire of the club is not to look for an exit," he said.

"We've spoken to Arsenal, we were interested and we informed them of that, although it's true that that was days ago and other things have happened since then, like the fact that he will not be with the team for a few games."

Lucas is one of several Arsenal players left behind to resolve their futures with the club willing to let them leave, including Kieran Gibbs, Wojciech Szczesny and Mathieu Debuchy.
