Liverpool injury, suspension list: Team news and predicted line-up vs Tottenham

Jurgen Klopp is close to having a fully-fit squad at his disposal ahead of Liverpool kickstarting a decisive period of the season against Tottenham on Sunday.

Joe Gomez is fit again after recovering from the broken leg he sustained in December, while Trent Alexander-Arnold (back) and Xherdan Shaqiri (pelvis) have overcome the issues that forced them out of international duty.

The trio played a full part in training at Melwood on Thursday afternoon to signal their readiness for a crucial run of fixtures between now and May.

Klopp said: “Yesterday we were all in training. It was for all three pretty much the first full session, so we have to see how they react," he said.

“There was pretty much no alternative for Shaq and for Trent in terms of not being involved in the games in that period. They needed treatment, the rehab, all that stuff.

"They should be all OK, and I heard nothing different from this morning."

The German did, however, sound a note of caution over Gomez, who is still some way short of full match fitness given his lengthy absence.

He added: "Joe was back yesterday after 15 weeks, wow what a long time, eh? But he looked really good.

"It’s early stages, he’s now adapting to proper football training after having thousands of rehab sessions. ”

Klopp was in similar mood over Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, too.

The 25-year-old suffered a minor setback in his return from a long-term knee injury while appearing for the club's U23s team, and there will be no chances taken as he plots a first-team comeback.

He continued: “How can I say this? I think one of the biggest mistakes I made was being so excited about having Ox back. Not because it’s not exciting, but because then the spotlight was on the U23 game at Derby, which is pretty rare.

“I’m pretty sure Ox felt a little bit after the last session with us, and then he played the game and felt a little bit more, and everybody was looking at him.

“So now we keep him a little bit more in the shadow, he’s in a pretty good moment, he will train, and when he is back and ready to be properly involved again, then I will inform you. Until then I will not speak about him.”

Predicted XI: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk, Robertson, Wijnaldum, Fabinho, Milner, Salah, Mane, Firmino
