RB Leipzig manager Ralf Rangnick has warned Timo Werner that Liverpool may not be the right move for him - pointing to Naby Keita's struggles at Anfield this season.

Liverpool have been linked with a move for the 22-year-old ahead of the summer transfer window having scored 55 goals in his last two-and-a-half seasons in Germany.

Leipzig are likely to face a fight to hold onto their forward, who is also reportedly a target for Real Madrid.

Rangnick however hopes to convince the player to stay, warning that following in Keita's footsteps might not be his best option.

“Keita was an outstanding player here, but he's still struggling in Liverpool,” the Leipzig boss Buli News.

“So far, he's not the player there that he was here. The surroundings must be right for Timo. That's the case here.”

Keita was widely regarded as one of Germany’s biggest talents with Liverpool bringing him to Anfield last summer in a deal worth £48million.

The Guinea international however has struggled to hold down a first-team role, starting just 10 of Liverpool’s 24 Premier League games.
