Liverpool have confirmed that Danny Ings’ move to Southampton has now been made permanent.

The striker joined the Saints last summer on an initial 12-month loan deal with an obligation to buy for £20million and the formalities of the latter part of that agreement having been completed today.

Ings will now be available to face the Reds in the Premier League having been unable to do so last season when they remained his parent club.

The 26-year-old scored eight goals in 24 appearances for his boyhood side last term after ending an injury ravaged three-season stay on Merseyside.

Ings’ first campaign at Anfield following a free transfer from Burnley in the summer of 2015 was wrecked by a serious knee problem.

And, after overcoming that setback, the forward was hit with the devastating blow of a similar injury to his other knee in October 2016.

He returned to action in September of the following year but saw his opportunities limited by the form of fellow striker Roberto Firmino.

Ings’ permanent departure from Liverpool is confirmed with the Englishman having made 25 appearances for the club.
