Agency18 January 2014

Striker Daniel Sturridge returned to Liverpool's starting line-up to resume his deadly partnership with Luis Suarez against Aston Villa at Anfield.

The England international, a goalscoring substitute on his return from a seven-week injury absence last week, replaced midfielder Lucas Leiva as the only change from the win at Stoke.

On-loan Chelsea defender Ryan Bertrand, reportedly a target for Liverpool, made his Villa debut as one of three changes from Monday's defeat to Arsenal.

Liverpool: Mignolet, Johnson, Toure, Skrtel, Cissokho, Sterling, Henderson, Gerrard, Coutinho, Sturridge, Suarez. Subs: Brad Jones, Alberto, Aspas, Moses, Lucas, Allen, Kelly.

Aston Villa: Guzan, Bacuna, Vlaar, Clark, Bertrand, El Ahmadi, Westwood, Delph, Weimann, Benteke, Agbonlahor. Subs: Holt, Helenius, Albrighton, Steer, Luna, Sylla, Gardner.
