Liverpool confirm James Milner, Roberto Firmino, Naby Keita and Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain will leave the club

Liverpool have confirmed that Roberto Firmino, James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will leave the club at the end of this season.

The quartet were all set to be out of contract this summer, with it now official that no new deals will be signed and they will move on after Liverpool’s final two Premier League matches of the current campaign.

It had already been announced earlier this season that Firmino would be leaving the club, after an eight-year spell at Anfield that has seen him win the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, League Cup and Club World Cup.

He has been out with injury but will hope to return in time for a final send-off, though Naby Keita, who joined Liverpool in 2018 for a then club-record fee of £52.5million, could miss out on his farewell after yet another injury-hit campaign in which he has been just three League starts.

Milner has been strongly linked with a free transfer to Brighton, with the 37-year-old set to join up with former Reds team-mate Adam Lallana, while Oxlade-Chamberlain will leave Liverpool six years after arriving from Arsenal.

The Reds host Aston Villa this weekend before travelling to Southampton on the final day of the season, with Jurgen Klopp’s side making a late charge at a top-four finish after a run of seven straight victories. They trail Manchester United and Newcastle by a point, though have played a game more than those two sides.

A Liverpool statement confirming the summer departures read: “With the visit of Aston Villa on Saturday being the Reds’ final home fixture of the campaign, special acknowledgements will be paid to the quartet at Anfield, with further tributes to follow across the club’s digital platforms after the end of the season as we wish Roberto, Naby, James, Alex and their families the very best for the future.

“All four players will depart with our gratitude and appreciation for the contribution they have made.”
