Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has revealed he sold himself on FIFA 15 to raise funds for Sweden international Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The 24-year-old, who has been at Emirates Stadium since 2008, received £18.5million from Manchester United for the transfer as he sought to secure the money needed to strengthen the Gunners squad.

Szczesny also made it clear exactly where he feels Wenger's squad is lacking as he immediately sought to sign a 'solid defensive midfielder' with the money raised - but later ditched those plans to instead lure towering Ibrahimovic to north London.

"In other words, I just sold Szczesny," the Arsenal goalkeeper told Polish TV. "(I sold him to) Manchester United, following in Tomasz Kuszczak's footsteps."

"They offered me £18.5m. I thought 'I'm going to buy a solid defensive midfielder with that.'"

"Look, Arsenal's new hero. Look who I bought,' he added. 'Ibrahimovic! I guess it was worth replacing Szczesny with Ibrahimovic."
