Kyle Walker is expected to sign a long-term contract with Tottenham as the north London club seek to tie down more key players to new deals.

Walker, 26, has become one of the Premier League's best defenders during his time at Spurs, as well as cementing himself as an England regular on the right flank.

Spurs have recently completed a long-term deal for Christian Eriksen to remain at White Hart Lane until 2020, and Walker is reportedly likely extend his stay at the club until 2021.

Standard Sport understands that Pochettino's side are also closing in on new deals for Jan Vertonghen and Erik Lamela after wrapping up Eriksen's future, while the coach expects 'a lot' of Spurs players to extend their contracts.

The deals for both Lamela and Vertonghen expire in the summer of 2018 and both are thought to be happy to extend their stay at White Hart Lane.

Eriksen finally signed a four-year contract last week - worth about £75,000 a week - after more than a year of negotiations.

The playmaker's agent revealed his player had turned his back on interest from top European clubs to sign a new deal at Tottenham because he believes the club is perfect for him.

Eriksen's representative Martin Schoots said: “Christian is just very happy at Spurs, as a player and as a person. He and his girlfriend moved house a month ago, which you don’t do in the middle of the transfer window if you have doubts about where your happiness is.

“He wanted to move to Tottenham three years ago, even when other clubs were interested in that period, including a big German club who could guarantee Champions League football. But he was convinced about Spurs, and he still is.

“He is looking forward to playing in the Champions League again and to playing in the new stadium in two years’ time. It’s just a great fit."
