Tottenham defender Kevin Wimmer has signed a contract extension that will keep him at White Hart Lane until 2021.
The 23-year-old joined Spurs from Bundesliga side Cologne last summer, signing a five-year deal in the process.
But Wimmer, who was part of Austria's squad at Euro 2016, has already been rewarded with an extension after just one season at White Hart Lane.
The central defender made a total of 10 Premier League appearances in his debut campaign in English football, filling in admirably alongside Toby Alderweireld during Jan Vertonghen's absence due to injury.
Wimmer could also be expected to fulfil a similar role in the early stages of the forthcoming season as Vertonghen suffered an ankle injury while on international duty in France earlier this summer.
Wimmer told the club's official website: "I'm very delighted, of course, that I was able to sign the new contract to stay five more years with the club.
"It's a big pleasure for me and I'm very happy to stay with this club."
Pochettino added: "His first season with us was good.
"All the squad needs to be ready to take their opportunity when the manager wants to give the opportunity and this is what he showed he was ready.
"He competed well and it was great for him."
Spurs have tied several key members of the side to long-term deals in recent months including Dele Alli and Mousa Dembele, while Pochettino has also committed his long-term future to the club.
