Karim Benzema would represent a "great signing" for Arsenal, according to former Gunners midfielder Ray Parlour.
The Real Madrid striker has been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium throughout the summer and recently uploaded a cryptic Instagram post that many fans took as a signal that the Frenchman was on the brink of a switch to Arsenal, only for it to emerge that Benzema had not left Madrid's pre-season tour.
The 27-year-old scored 15 goals for Madrid in La Liga last season, a tally that was only bettered by Cristiano Ronaldo, and Parlour believes that his proposed arrival would be an excellent move by Arsene Wenger.
“Benzema would be a great signing for Arsenal. I think fans would be really excited to have him in the squad. [Edinson] Cavani's been mentioned, whether he's a player who could come in," Parlour told Goal.
“He's got great experience with the national side and the teams he's been at so, if they're available, who knows? Something could happen there. Whether we can get them is another matter.
“We know how hard it is to buy players now. I'm sure Arsene Wenger, if those sort of players are on the market and he knows he can get them, maybe they're the ones he goes for.

Wenger's options up front currently consist of Olivier Giroud and Danny Welbeck, plus Alexis Sanchez and Theo Walcott, the latter of whom signed a new long-term contract last week.
