Jamie Vardy happy for Harry Kane to be England's first-choice penalty taker at Euro 2016

Jamie Vardy has revealed he is happy for Harry Kane to take penalties for England at Euro 2016.

Vardy won a spot-kick in the second half of England's friendly against Turkey on Sunday, with the score tied 1-1, but Kane sent his resulting penalty wide.

Vardy went on to score the winner when he fired in from close range in the 83rd minute but, after the victory, he insisted he remains happy for his teammate to continue taking penalties despite the miss at the Etihad Stadium.

"I'm sure Harry Kane will be first to put his name forward for a penalty if we get one," Vardy said.

The Leicester City striker also commented on Jack Wilshere's performance in the game after Hodgson handed the Arsenal midfielder his first England start in nearly a year against Turkey.

"Jack Wilshere is nice and calm on the ball and he can see that killer pass," Vardy said.

"There's no substitute for match practice. We started well in the 4-3-3 but we changed formations and I got the goal to win it."
