Jamie Carragher boosts Rafael Benitez

Red alert: Jamie Carragher is back for Liverpool’s clash with Unirea Urziceni at Anfield

Jamie Carragher has recovered from a groin injury in time to shore up Liverpool's defence for their Europa League clash with Unirea Urziceni at Anfield.

Rafael Benitez's side has been decimated by injury but the defender, who was forced off against Arsenal last week, came through a training session and will play against the Romanians.

The Spanish manager will make a late decision over recalling Yossi Benayoun, who is training after a broken rib but is not 100 per cent fit.

Benitez said: "Carra is available, which is very good news. Yossi still has a problem with his rib but at least he is training. We will decide about him on Thursday."

Fernando Torres and Glen Johnson are closing in on returns after knee injuries. "They are very close but not available yet," added Benitez.
