It's hard for Simone Zaza to prove himself at 'struggling' West Ham, says Fabrizio Ravanelli

Simone Zaza has picked a tough time to arrive in the Premier League with West Ham, according to his compatriot Fabrizio Ravanelli.

Zaza, who arrived on loan from Juventus with a view to a permanent deal in the closing days of the summer transfer window, has yet to score since his move to England and has been the subject of speculation linking him with a move to Valencia or Napoli in the January window.

His struggles have only been part of the malaise that has afflicted West Ham, currently in the bottom three after seven games, and Ravanelli, who became a cult hero in England during spells at Middlesbrough and Derby County, feels Zaza is in a far from ideal environment in which to learn the harsh realities of life in the Premier League.

“It’s hard for Simone Zaza,” Ravanelli said. “West Ham are in a delicate period. They are struggling now.

“They are very strong quality wise but they started off so badly this season.

“People have to understand that English football is very physical, fast-paced and full of powerful and rugged defenders. They make your life tough.”
