Barcelona winger Francisco Trincao has opted for a diplomatic posture in the long-running debate involving Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Trincao joined Barca in the summer and the Portuguese attacker has recently made his international debut, meaning he has become part of a select group of players to feature alongside both Messi and Ronaldo.

The former Braga winger played the opening 79 minutes of Portugal's 0-0 draw with Spain on Wednesday night and was asked afterwards about his two high-profile team-mates for club and country.

"I'm very proud to play with both Ronaldo and Messi," he told RTP3. "It's impossible to say who is better."

Portugal are up against France next in Paris in the UEFA Nations League on Sunday and another of Trincao's Barcelona team-mates, Antoine Griezmann.

"I will do my work," the 20-year-old said when asked if he expected to start that match. "I'm ready to play with my team-mates, but the final decision is with the coach."
