Injured Diaby sits out Arsenal training

11 April 2012

Abou Diaby was forced to miss training yesterday with an ankle problem, giving injuryhit Arsenal a new worry for their clash at home to Braga.

Midfielder Diaby has had a scan to assess the damage caused by a high tackle from Bolton's Paul Robinson on Saturday. Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger said: "Diaby is not in good shape."

Theo Walcott, Robin van Persie, Nicklas Bendtner and Aaron Ramsey are out of tomorrow's Champions League match with the Portuguese.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are close to agreeing a new five-year contract with forward Gael Kakuta.

Carlo Ancelotti has high hopes for the 19-year-old, whose deal ends this summer. The boss, whose team face Slovakians MSK Zilina tomorrow, said: "We now have to consider him not as a young player but as a player in the first team."

Kakuta was a controversial signing from Lens after Chelsea were accused of inducing him to break his contract in 2007. They were banned by FIFA from making any signings for two transfer windows although that decision was later overturned.
