Heung-min Son: Ankle injury is behind my Tottenham goal struggles, but it's been difficult for the whole Spurs side

Heung-min Son admits that an ankle injury has seen him struggle to keep his goal-scoring run going for Tottenham as Mauricio Pochettino's side have "struggled" in recent weeks.

South Korea forward Son hit four Premier League goals for Spurs in September to claim the player of the month award, stepping up in the absence of the injured Harry Kane to lead the line impressively.

But Son has failed to score since the last international break, with Pochettino's men having scored just four goals in a seven-game winless run in all competitions.

Son is without a goal in those seven games, but says that Spurs' slump is not down to just his problems in finding the net.

"It's true that I've struggled after winning the award because of an ankle injury," Reuters reports Son as saying before training with South Korea at Seoul World Cup Stadium on Tuesday.

"But it's not just me; the whole team is having a difficult time. With the national team, your strong mindset matters more than your form. I came here to win."

South Korea host Canada in a friendly in Cheonan on Friday before taking on Uzbekistan in their 2018 World Cup qualifier four days later in Seoul, with Son looking to add to his 17 goals in 51 games for the Taegeuk Warriors.

Pochettino will be boosted by the return of Kane, who scored Spurs' equaliser in the north London derby draw against Arsenal before the international break following his seven-week absence due to an ankle injury.
