Hector Bellerin returned to full Arsenal training on Friday and is understood to be making good progress in his recovery from concussion.

Bellerin, who suffered the injury after receiving an elbow to the head from Marcos Alonso in last week’s 3-1 defeat at Chelsea, received the all-clear from an MRI scan earlier in the week but is still on the six-step graduated return to play protocol.

He could, however, feature in Saturday’s home game against Hull. Arsenal doctor Gary O’Driscoll will have the final say on Bellerin’s availability.

Football Association guidelines for head injuries mandate that a player who receives “enhanced care”, as Bellerin did when he was immediately substituted at Stamford Bridge, must wait six days before returning to action.

The 21-year-old was joined by Lucas Perez, who had missed the Chelsea game with a minor ankle injury, and Mohamed Elneny, returning from the Africa Cup of Nations where his Egypt side were defeated finalists.
