Harry Kane lamented Tottenham’s lack of ruthlessness in the final third as they fell to a 1-0 defeat at Wolves.

Pedro Porro and Heung-min Son hit the bar with the scores level at Molineux before Adama Traore struck in the 82nd minute to deliver another blow in Spurs’ season.

Particularly galling for the visitors was how they restricted Wolves to zero shots for almost an hour at Molineux, in which time they fired off 14 of their own before the momentum shifted.

“I thought we controlled the game for large spells but weren’t really clinical enough in their final third,” Kane told the club media.

“Whether it’s the final finish, the pass or the cross we just weren’t clinical enough. At this level you get punished and that’s what happened towards the end of the game.

“You can’t fault the effort of the lads, you can’t fault the way we played. But if you want to be fighting at the top of the table you need to be clinical in different moments.

“Not just with the finish but with the final pass, when you’re three-v-two, scenarios like that. We just need to get better in those moments.

“When Premier League games are 0-0 you can always get caught and we did.”
