Harry Kane warns Tottenham rivals he’s in career-best form as Heung-min Son partnership thrives

Harry Kane has warned Tottenham’s title rivals he is in the form of his life after inspiring Spurs to a 2-0 win over Arsenal.

Kane became the all-time leading scorer in north London derbies with his 11th goal against the Gunners on Sunday.

The England captain finished emphatically from Heung-min Son’s pass on the stroke of half-time, having set up the South Korean’s sublime opener with a trademark raking pass.

The pair have now combined for 31 goals - five short of the Premier League record set by Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba.

Kane, who has now scored eight goals in 11 League games this season, said: “I’d say it’s the best form I’ve ever been in and my best start to the season for sure.

“[Son and me] are just feeling good and understanding each other’s game well. The way we’re setting up is suiting us. It was an easy pass and he had a fantastic finish.

“We’ve got a good understanding but it’s the same with everyone on the pitch. The way everyone works and moves allows us to create that space. So we’ve got to keep it going."

Spurs returned to the top of the table, level on points with Liverpool, who beat Wolves 4-0 on Sunday. The pair meet in a potentially pivotal match at Anfield on December 16 after Spurs’s game at Crystal Palace next Saturday.

“There’s still a long way to go,” said Kane. “It’s a long, hard race to be there at the end. We’re just taking each game as it comes. Results like we’ve got last night and Manchester City, a couple of weeks ago, will only help us, so we’ve just got to keep it going.

“We’re not getting carried away. We have to believe in ourselves but we also know it can turn around pretty quick if you have a few bad results.

“We’ve just got to keep trying to win games. There’s two tough away games coming up - Palace and Liverpool. We’ve just got to keep trying to do what we’re doing and fight for it.”

Sunday’s win was made all the sweeter for Spurs for coming in front of 2,000 supporters, who returned to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium after a 277-day absence.

“It made a real difference [to have the fans back],” Kane said. “To see their faces, hear their voices, was fantastic. The atmosphere was great and we’ve been looking forward to getting them back.”
