Harry Kane snubs interest from China as Andre Villas-Boas plots reunion with Tottenham striker and Danny Rose

Harry Kane has knocked back interest from the Chinese Super League this month as he focuses on trying to win a major trophy with Tottenham.

Shanghai SIPG, managed by ex-Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas, are believed to have had Kane and Danny Rose on their list of targets.

Standard Sport understands Kane’s camp were contacted by intermediaries who asked about his willingness to move to the Far East, specifically to SIPG.

Discussions never reached the stage of salary or bonuses because Kane has no interest in the switch — regardless of the wealth available. Yet it can be safely assumed any offer from SIPG would dwarf Kane’s current pay packet.

The England star signed a five-and-a-half-year contract with Spurs last month, which is likely to have made him the highest-paid player in the history of the club. The deal is thought to be worth up to £120,000 a week.

Asked about moving to China, Kane told Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport: “You have to choose whether to take the money or follow your own ambitions, playing in the best League in the world and winning titles.”

It is believed SIPG have also targeted Rose. As with Kane, though, any move is unlikely to succeed. The left-back, who is admired by both Manchester clubs and Paris St Germain, is not for sale.

Neither Rose nor Kane made a particular impact during Villas-Boas’s time at Spurs, from July 2012 until December 2013.

Both were on loan during the Portuguese’s only full season. In Villas-Boas’s second campaign, Rose was involved until suffering an ankle injury in September and Kane scored once in six games.

Lamela is working with a physio at his former club, Roma, to try to recover from a hip problem that has kept him out of action since late October.

Lamela also had to deal with a family illness late last year and it has been suggested he is no longer enjoying life at Spurs, but the winger tweeted: “Just to be clear, I am in Roma recovering for an injury and not for any other thing that is not to do with football”.
